Hi Everyone;  Thanks for a great term!  Please review the instructions for your final presentation this week.

Week 13

 All classes this week will meet in the Computer Lab.  We just have this week and next week to complete all 4 paintings; (3 landscape, 1 architectural) before week 14.  Please bring  ALL of your paintings,  as well as your PHOTO REFERENCE.
I will go over how to present your final images for week 14.

To save time, you may scan your artwork in advance and bring the digital file, or scan your work on the 3rd floor when you get to class.

Monday's class will meet at the HIllside Campus in front of the Ahamanson Theatre, under the bridge; (on the side where the cafeteria is) Be sure to double-check your supply list.  Make sure you bring a water container that closes tightly with at least 32 ozs. of water, and 2 boards:  approx;  5 x 7". and a smaller board for the value study...  Prepare your palette and paper in advance..

Hi class;  Welcome to Digital Landscape for  Fall 2018!
As a reminder, the computer LAB, room# 334 will not be available to us for the first week or so due to construction.  We will meet temporarily on the 2nd floor.  There should be signs directing you to the computer lab.  Please review this blog.  This will be the class blog for both the Monday and Friday classes.  It will give you information on where the class will meet on a weekly basis.  This is a location class, painting in gouache, as well as a digital LAB class.

We will go over the supply list and syllabus on the first day of class.

Week 14

Hi class;  here is the "Final Requirements" review for tomorrow.  Please follow these instructions as we discussed in class last week.  Thank you for a great term, even though we didn't get outside as much as we would have liked due to the weather.
Have a great break, and I hope you all gained some experience and inspiration to continue painting in gouache.  It's important to continue painting traditionally, as well as digitally on location.  It will enhance your understanding of color and lighting.

Take the 210 fwy east from Pasadena to the Baldwin exit, exit fwy and Turn right at the light,

(not on red though) and the Arboretum will be 1 block down on the  right side

Please check your supply list and prepare your palette with paper, BEFORE arriving at the Arboretum.  Be sure to have adequate water( 32 oz) and two illustration boards (heavy weight), one for the value study, (about 3" X 5") and one for your color version,  (about 5 X 7').

Don't forget your student I.D.  It should be a sunny day, but cool in the shade, so  bring an extra sweater to be safe. Please wait at the front entrance by the benches before entering the park....

DIGITAL LANDSCAPE

Architectural Photoshop Assignment

NOTE:  Photographs due no later than week 7, however, it may rain this Thursday and Friday, so if possible, take photos this week!

Take 10 photographs of interesting architectural structures to be completed in Photoshop during lab sessions.  This is in addition to the 3 final Photoshop paintings due as part of the final on week 14.

The best time to take your photos is late afternoon, preferably after 4pm.  The objective is to have interesting lighting on your structure.  Three quarter views usually give the best views rather than front-on views.  This will increase your sense of depth and perspective.
